Call for papers followed by a Symposium on, the topic of the Restitution or Art works to Benin. "Aesthetic practices in Benin, mutations without reference? "Organized by Romuald Tchibozo (Prof. of Art History at the University Abomey Calavi - Cotonou) and Stephan Köhler. The key issue discussed: Would the contemporary art scene in Benin would have developped differently if the artistic heritage of the country would not have been spread all over the world?

November 1st – 10th 2014:
Idrissou Mora Kpai gave a community-based documentary film workshop on the theme of Landgrabbing and Food-Security
The four films are the results of our community-based documentary film workshop with Idrissou Mora Kpai, held from Nov. 1-10th 2014 in Cotonou, Benin, on the topic of land-grabbing and food security. This workshop was organized by the Kulturforum Sud-Nord in Partnership with the NGOs “Nature Tropicale”, “Agrihub Benin” and “Synergie Paysanne” and supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prince Claus Fund. The workshop on land-grabbing and food security is part of the Kulturforum’s workshop series „Empathetic Eyes“ coordinated by Stephan Köhler in cooperation with Christiane Chabi Kao. The four films, which represent pioneer work in visual activism, were translated into three vernacular languages and screened through mobile cinema units (CNA) in rural Benin in order to educate communities concerned about their land rights.
